President
Main communicator between PTA and Miller Administration, Manages all VPs, works with Treasurer for financial details, signs contracts, Multiple sign ups will result in a friendly voting.

Vice President in charge of recruiting members and community engagement. Leadership role coordinating Communications, Hospitality, also School Parties. Coordinator Opportunities

This area highlights the various leadership roles needed to help the PTA throughout the year. Some opportunities are for a single event, some last the entire school year.


Auction Coordinator
This individual is responsible for coordinating the efforts of the Auction Volunteers, including soliciting donations, donation presentation, BiddingOwl silent auction creation, and winning bid distribution. Donation Solicitation should begin with the school year.

Book Fair Coordinator
This position is works with Scholastic to schedule book fair arrival, setup, dismantle and pickup. Coordinates volunteers for setup, take down and cashiering. Responsible for securing, counting and relinquishing funds to VP2. Makes decisions on scale of decorations. Will coordinator with Grandparents Lunch Coordinator for timing and logistics.

Communications Coordinator
This volunteer is responsible for overseeing communications from the PTA to the teachers, staff, students and parents through our website, Facebook, and Instagram.

Community Partners Coordinator
Develop business partnerships in our community that will support our PTA through donations. Create promotions to bring in additional partnerships. This volunteer will work on their own time when convenient to find as many businesses that they can to interact with our school.

Fall Event Coordinator
This person will coordinate event elements like theme and attractions, food and accessory sales, and volunteers to set-up, run events, and clean up. Fall Event may contain Glow, Halloween or Fall Elements depending on timing.

Field Day Coordinator
This volunteer works with Coach K for Field Day needs on setup and supplies. Coordinates volunteers for setup, take down and operating individual field events.

Fun Run Coordinator
This volunteer coordinates Fun Run activities. Promote Fun Run fundraising, coordinate volunteers for setup, take down and cheering the run. Makes decisions on scale of decorations. This event might be a partnership event or self-created.

Hospitality Coordinator
The Hospitality Chair will manage luncheons, food and baked goods the PTA provides for the teachers, and at various other events. Some of the events include: back to school breakfast or lunch before school starts, luncheon every other month, Teacher Appreciation Week (which includes one luncheon for the week and a treat of some kind each day), and a winter/holiday luncheon. Teacher Appreciation Week in May is the most time-consuming event of the year.

PISD PTA Council Delegate
Attend PISD Council PTA regular meetings or see that an alternate attends instead. Take careful notes of announcements and the program at the Council PTA meeting. Report and/or vote accordingly at the Council PTA meeting.

Reflections or Art Night Coordinator
The Reflections program provides opportunities for recognition and access to the arts which boost student confidence and success in the arts and in life. This event, once popular at Miller, could be re-instated with the right volunteer who is passionate about Art.

Senior Scholarship Coordinator
This coordinator plans the annual scholarship contest where two applicants will receive $500 scholarships to the college they will attend the next fall. They will work with volunteers to read and judge the essays from each applicant and present the award at the Senior Banquet in May.

Spirit Night Coordinator
Contact local restaurants to arrange for evenings during the week where a portion of funds for purchased items will be donated to Miller Elementary PTA. Time commitment is flexible as it involves many phone calls and emails.

School Party Coordinator
This volunteer works with all lead room parents to plan activities and refreshments for school parties. Three parties a year: Winter, Friendship and End of Year.

School Supplies Coordinator
This volunteer will organize and coordinate ordering process for school packs for each grade based on the requirements set by teachers. Includes securing communicating the online ordering process to parents and ensuring supplies are delivered on schedule. This position overlaps into the next school year so recommended for a 4th or lower grade parent.

Spirit Wear Coordinator
This volunteer will be in charge of designing shirts, taking orders, and distributing spirit wear. This position does require late spring and summer work so the designs can be ready for purchase when school resumes in August.

Watch D.O.G.S. Coordinator
Volunteer coordinates other DOGS to participation one Friday a month to spend time with classes being a positive role model. Reading in class, playing at recess, patrolling school grounds, cafeteria monitor are common duties. Also provide concessions during after school events.

Workroom Helper Coordinator
This volunteer is responsible for completing Workroom projects for all grade level. Will utilize volunteers as needed.

Walk to School Coordinator
National event to promote walking and biking safely to school. Morning event. Coordinate promotion, giveaways, and snacks.

Yard Sale Coordinator
A proposed event looking for a coordinator. A community yard sale in the Miller Parking lots. Needs organizer for selling spots, advertising, possibly vendors.

Yearbook Coordinator
This person will lead the Yearbook volunteers and be responsible guiding them on design, layout and editing of the yearbook. Photography and computer skills are helpful but not required. The yearbook tool is a web accessed software and training from the company is provided. Must have a computer and internet access.

School Daytime Volunteering

Below are volunteer opportunities that occur during the school day. They are perfect for those with daytime availability. Individuals will receive email notifications when specific event signup times are available.


Book Fair
Volunteers will assist in one of several ways such as set up day, tear down day, or working (assisting young kids with purchases and/or running registers) during the Book Fair.

Workroom Helpers

These volunteers attend school events to take pictures that will be used in the year books. Volunteers are needed to represent each grade level.

Watch D.O.G.S.

Male influencers (dads, uncles, grandpas) volunteer one Friday a month to spend time with classes being a positive role model. Volunteering Outside School Hours

Below are opportunities offered from home or during hours outside the regular school day. Perfect for those with daytime obligations. Individuals will receive email notifications when specific event signup times are available.


5th Grade Committee
These volunteers are responsible for helping coordinate the efforts of the 5th Grade Committee, reporting on the status of the committee to the PTA Board, and monitoring the budget for 5th grade events like the Spirit Shirt, memory book, 5th grade dance, and other end of year activities.

Auction
The Miller Auction is an on-line auction. Volunteers will assist with Inventory, VIP-Package Development and Promotion, Assisting the Art Teacher with Classroom Art Projects that become Auction Items, Contacting Businesses for auction items, collection donations, photographing items for the online web site, creating a display of physical items in the Miller showcases, and preparing items for pick up after the auction. Training will be provided.

Fall Event Volunteers
Volunteers will support the coordinator as needed. Duties may include finding and contacting vendors, organizing an activity for the festival, staffing the event, setting up, and cleaning up.

Senior Scholarship
These volunteers will read and judge essays put forth by applicants for the two scholarship awards. This is great for working parents and can be done entirely from home.

Yearbook
Volunteers will help in a variety of ways such as collecting orders, doing grade level page layouts, delivering yearbooks. Time commitment is 1 to 20 hours depending on tasks chosen.
